Reflecting on an Amazing Start to 2025

As we step into spring, we wanted to take a moment to reflect on what has already been an incredible start to 2025 for Louie’s Trust. These past four months have brought growth, new opportunities, and meaningful connections. All thanks to the unwavering support of our community and partners.

A Major Milestone: We’re Officially a Registered Charity

One of the biggest milestones so far this year was becoming a registered charity! We’re proud to officially be Charity No. 1212933. This huge achievement has not only formalised the work we do but also opened up new avenues for funding, support, and recognition. It marks a new chapter in our journey, and we’re so excited for what lies ahead.

A Full-Time Commitment to Families

Another important change has been the expansion of our leadership. Our Operations Director has taken on a full-time role with Louie’s Trust, giving her the time and capacity to truly immerse herself in supporting our families. From attending events to visiting hospitals, she’s now able to do the kind of on-the-ground work that makes a real difference, work that wasn’t always possible before. Her presence and commitment have been a game-changer for us and for the families we serve.

Right now, we are actively supporting two families with children in hospital, each facing unique conditions and challenges. Being able to walk alongside them during such tough times. Offering comfort, practical help, and understanding, which is exactly why Louie’s Trust exists.

Growing Visibility and Community Support

We’ve also have the privilege of engaging with more supporters than ever before. At the Sunderland City Runs on 11th May 2025, we have our first-ever tent presence in the charity village, a huge moment for us! And incredibly, we have 30 amazing people running in support of Louie’s Trust. We're looking forward to seeing everyone come together on the day.

We’ve also joined organisations like VCAS (Voluntary and Community Action Sunderland), who’ve already helped us secure our first grant of £1,000.00. A fantastic amount that will go directly toward supporting families in hospital.

Strength in Partnerships: Taylor Wimpey North East & Shutter Productions

Our partnership with Taylor Wimpey North East continues to flourish. Earlier this year, they raised over £1,400.00 at a contractors event, and we are counting down the days to their first-ever Charity Ball in May to raise awareness and funds for Louie’s Trust. With all 22 tables sold out within their network, we’re blown away by the level of commitment and generosity from their team. We couldn’t be more excited and grateful for their support.

We’ve also taken an exciting step in sharing our journey more widely. We’ve partnered with Shutter Productions to create a brand story for Louie’s Trust. Something that will help capture the heart of our mission and show the world the impact of your support. This project will give families, supporters, and future partners a real insight into why we exist and the difference we’re making together. We can’t wait to share it with you soon.

Welcoming New Leadership

Behind the scenes, we’ve welcomed two new trustees to our board. Both bring a wealth of experience in working with charities, engaging with corporate partners, and managing volunteers. Their expertise will be invaluable as we look to the future and build on the momentum we’ve created.

And speaking of growth, we’ve outgrown our current storage space! While that presents its own challenges, it’s also a clear sign of how much Louie’s Trust has expanded. We’re now actively looking for a new space where we can not only store and pack donations but also welcome volunteers in for a cuppa and a chat — a space filled with kindness, action, and community spirit.
